(God is) always making little surprises and springing them on us.

Fall leaves

Any fool living in the world can see it - do you?

People think pleasing God is all God care about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.

Yeah? I say.

Yeah, she say. It always making little surprises and springing them on us when us least expect.

You mean it want to be loved, just like the bible say.

Yes, Celie, she say. Everything want to be loved. Us sing and dance, make faces and give flower bouquets, trying to be loved. You ever notice that trees do everything to git attention we do, except walk?

What a beautiful perspective! Especially on this cool September morning with a breeze blowing the branches and leaves on the trees, getting our attention without us even noticing the attempt. It is easy to take for granted that cooler weather will be a welcome relief from the hot summer months, and also the seasonal offerings from gardens well tended.

And thinking of another beautiful September morning 10 years ago, how so swiftly life can change in an instant. Grab life with both hands and live, love, laugh, dance, and give thanks!
