The more aware you are, the more objective you become

This is very Buddhist, isn't it?

The more aware you are, the more objective you become. This is very Buddhist, isn’t it? And I think that those who have no sense of awareness of what’s going on around them and inside them cannot have these feelings which are so important for doing the right thing in the world. If you are not aware that what you are doing is wrong, then you will not feel ashamed of it. One is living in pure fantasy – a type of madness and total lack of objectivity. Which all comes down to an inability to face the truth. If you are living in a world where everything you do is justified by such things as “patriotism” or “the good of the country,” then you will not be able to take the next step of being ashamed and wanting to correct yourself.
