kisses are a far better fate than wisdom

Have you ever been kissed by the syntax of things?
(excerpt)
since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the worldmy blood approves,
and kisses are a far better fate
than wisdomby e e cummings

Ha, who would have thought that Cummings (not my fave poet) would sing to me so this morning, and in such dulcet tones! Thank you, Elizabeth. Even more, I enjoyed the line below the purple blossoms, which I suspect is yours……’have you ever been kissed by the syntax of things?’. Nope, we have never even greeted cordially! Nor recognised each other in the palaces of poesy. The odd thing is I do detect some syntaxin those petals, which makes me think that it can hobnob with a burst of beauty. But syntaxic kisses ….never!!!!!!

Most of the images come from Flickr – a wonderful resource.
I’d set up this quote and yesterday’s to appear in springtime. Instead, I decided to put them up now, to brighten up the damp and cold of my Pacific Northwest autumn.
I’ve been thinking of connections lately, which took me to kisses and context and syntax, and could extend to wishes or breakfast or the right minor or major chord. If you’re looking, you will find something.

hmmmm, one could write an entire dissertation on kisses, some dry, others more Pavlovian in texture. On a less frothy note, what you say is SO true, connections could extend to anything, as diverse as those you suggest. Ofcourse, your eyes should be open, your ears too. Now and then tho, when you are not ‘looking’, it finds you. That is a kiss too.
