life’s not a paragraph and death i think is no parenthesis

we are for eachother: then laugh
(excerpt)
lady i swear by all flowers. Don’t cry
–the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids’ flutter which sayswe are for eachother: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life’s not a paragraphAnd death i think is no parenthesis

This quote refers to your life as reported in a obituary, a paragraph about you, your life , your history. Born on a date and died on a date is in parenthesis.
We are more than a paragraph, our lives intermingle with so many people and distilling our time here on earth in parenthesis is not the whole story.
This was my writing class motto in High School. Mrs. Gudgeon’s class of 1970. Every time i do see obituaries I think of this quote and realize our short time on earth and why we need to make the most of it here while we can.
