Ch-ch-ch-changes – I am Turning to Face the Change

Right now, two things.

First, my plate is too full. This too shall pass, but in the meantime something’s got to give. I thought of taking a break this week – I have a biopsy tomorrow (my first,) and the whole month is looking pretty stacked up. Just taking time off doesn’t do it for me. I’m an artist. I have to stay engaged. And this site is good for me – it does that art thang for me, and readers, too.

Second, this is January, first month of a fresh, new year, and I want to grow my site. The concentrated work I wanted isn’t practical right now, but I have an idea. I’m going to try to take care of two things at once by shaking it up a bit here.

I’ll be less regular this month, which will help make the added wiggle room I need right now. There will still be a sourced-by-me quote every day, but the morning snack-o-quotation might arrive in the afternoon. If I’m enthused by a particular author, I may do the same author several posts in a row, or more than one quote if the mood strikes. I may throw in a few things that aren’t regular features, just for fun. And I’ll chip away at a few practical tasks.

But what does it mean?

Here’s an example. I’ve pulled back on the writing prompt, but just for now. This is my story (this month) and I’m sticking with it:

QuoteSnack offers a daily quote, attributed and linked to a confirmed, published source. In addition, I’ll sometimes post a writing prompt and some simple instructions. The next morning I’ll post a quote that has something to do with the prompt, so you can take a peek at differences or similarities in how someone else relates to using the same words.

Note the bolding. Consider yourself warned. Those of you who’ve always meant to play along are not off the hook – instead of showing up on all odd numbered days, prompts will be more of a sneak attack.

Here’s another example. I’ve moved the big tag cloud and author list out of the footer and into their own pages. Instead, the sidebar or footer area will be getting short, hand-selected lists.

Psst! Hint! Would you like to nominate a post for a “Reader’s Favorites” list?

Today’s quote will appear later in the day, and it’s Tolkien. I may do a few days of Tolkien. He is famous for the saga of a quest peopled with heroes that do the deed their own best way, “human” foibles and all. Sounds good to me.

There’s more, but that’s enough for me now.

Seize the carpe, y’all.
